LinkedIn Carousel Ads for B2B in 2026: Specs, Examples and When They Beat Single-Image Ads

TL;DR

  • Specs are simple: LinkedIn carousel ads take 2 to 10 square cards at 1080 x 1080 px, in JPG, PNG or non-animated GIF, up to 10 MB each.

  • Carousels trade clicks for reach cost: in ZenABM's 2026 dataset, median CTR is 0.32% vs 0.42% for single image, but median CPM is $45.28 vs $59.15.

  • Use carousels when the story needs sequence: frameworks, multi-segment offers, event agendas and research findings.

  • 5 real B2B examples below show the structures that work, including a reported 116% lift in qualified leads at Corporate Visions.

  • You will leave with a spec sheet, a decision table and a 6-step build process.

What Are LinkedIn Carousel Ads?

LinkedIn carousel ads are Sponsored Content ads made of 2 to 10 swipeable image cards inside a single feed post. One introductory text sits above all the cards, and each card has its own image and headline.

Destinations depend on setup. On a standard carousel, each card can send readers to a different URL. If you attach a Lead Gen Form, every card opens the same form, and LinkedIn notes that CTA buttons are only available on carousels that use Lead Gen Forms (LinkedIn carousel specifications, Sponsored Content specifications).

The format is not a slideshow of one message. It is a sequence: card 1 earns attention, the middle cards deliver the argument, and the last card asks for the action.

LinkedIn introduced the format in 2018, and more than 300 advertisers took part in the beta. According to LinkedIn's announcement, 75% of beta advertisers said they would use carousels in their next Sponsored Content campaign. That is LinkedIn's own claim, not an independent performance study.

Four spec details matter more than the rest:

  • Cards display at 312 x 312 px. Design for that size, not for the 1080 px file. ZenABM's carousel spec guide suggests a 24pt minimum for any text inside the image.

  • Keep introductory text to 150 characters. LinkedIn allows 255, but recommends 150 to avoid truncation on some devices.

  • Proof every card before saving. LinkedIn does not let you edit carousel cards after the ad is saved, so a typo means rebuilding the ad.

  • Decide early between URLs and a Lead Gen Form. Separate card URLs give you separate landing pages. A Lead Gen Form sends every card to one form.

Carousel vs Single-Image Ads: What the 2026 Benchmarks Show

ZenABM's data shows carousel ads getting clicked less often than single-image ads. The ZenABM 2026 LinkedIn Ads benchmarks cover 211 B2B companies, 161,256 ads and $5.5M in spend across 29 countries. These are one vendor's medians, not official LinkedIn benchmarks, so treat them as a reference point rather than a rule for every campaign.

Read the table as two separate stories.

  • For clicks, single image wins in this dataset. Swiping adds a step before the click. If your campaign is judged on landing-page visits alone, carousels start at a disadvantage.

  • For reach, carousel wins in this dataset. ZenABM's CPM figures imply about 31% more impressions per dollar for carousels. That assumes a comparable audience, objective, geography and auction conditions, so it is an expectation to test, not a guaranteed outcome.

When LinkedIn Carousel Ads Beat Single-Image Ads

Carousels beat single image when the message genuinely needs more than one frame. Use this table to decide before you brief design.

Situation

Better format

Why

Explaining a framework, process or 3 to 5 step method

Carousel

The sequence is the message. One image cannot hold it.

Serving 2 to 4 segments or industries in one campaign

Carousel

One card per segment, each with its own landing page.

Promoting an event with several sessions or speakers

Carousel

Each card sells one reason to attend.

Teasing several findings from one research report

Carousel

Each card is a standalone stat that pulls toward the full report.

Building familiarity in a named-account audience on a fixed budget

Carousel

A lower CPM can buy more impressions per account.

Driving clicks to one offer or one landing page

Single image

Higher median CTR in ZenABM's data, no swipe step.

Testing messaging quickly

Single image

Faster to produce, cleaner A/B reads.

The rule of thumb: if you can say it in one image and one headline, run single image. ZenABM's spec guide suggests a mix of 1 or 2 carousels alongside 5 to 7 single-image ads in an ABM program. That is ZenABM's suggested testing ratio, not a LinkedIn rule.

5 LinkedIn Carousel Ad Examples for B2B

The five LinkedIn carousel ad examples below are real. The first two come with reported numbers, and the third with a qualitative result reported by LinkedIn. The last two are records in the LinkedIn Ad Library, checked on 7 October 2026, where each is labelled "Carousel Ad" and no performance results are published. To find more, use the method in our guide to researching competitor ads in the LinkedIn Ad Library.

1. Corporate Visions: a tips series that grew qualified leads

Strategy: Corporate Visions, which serves B2B sales and marketing teams, used carousel ads to deliver quick, actionable tips about B2B selling. Each card carried one tip.

What makes it different: The carousel was useful on its own. Readers got value without clicking, which built familiarity before any ask.

Results: HubSpot's roundup of LinkedIn ad case studies reports that Corporate Visions identified carousels as its best-performing format and saw a 116% increase in qualified leads year over year. HubSpot also mentions an ROI improvement but does not quantify it clearly.

Why it works: A tip series turns the swipe into a reward. Each card pays off the effort of swiping, so the reader keeps going and associates the brand with expertise.

Key takeaway for your team: You do not need a content studio to copy this. Turn one existing blog post or sales playbook into 5 cards with one tip each, and point the final card to the full resource.

2. RBC Wealth Management: research report teaser

Strategy: RBC Wealth Management piloted carousel ads during the 2018 beta for an Asia-themed campaign tied to a downloadable research report.

What makes it different: The carousel previewed the report rather than describing it, so each card worked as a sample of the content behind the download.

Results: Marketing Dive reported that RBC's carousel saw 2x the click-through rate of an average LinkedIn ad.

Why it works: Previewing findings creates an information gap. The reader has seen enough to believe the report is worth it, and the final card closes that gap with the download.

Key takeaway for your team: You do not need a bank's research budget. Take the 4 strongest data points from any report or survey you already own, put one on each card, and send all cards to the gated download.

3. Cotton Incorporated: one card per industry

Strategy: Cotton Incorporated ran a trade-focused carousel to reach decision-makers across several industries in the textile supply chain. Each card sent its audience to an industry-specific site with relevant resources.

What makes it different: One ad served several segments at once, with a separate destination for each.

Results (qualitative): LinkedIn reported that the carousels drove better engagement than static ads, including higher click-through rates and more total clicks. No figures were published.

Why it works: Each reader self-selects. A buyer in one segment swipes to the card that names their industry, and lands on a page built for them instead of a generic homepage.

Key takeaway for your team: You do not need separate campaigns per vertical to start. Build one carousel with a card per priority segment and give each card its own URL and UTM.

4. Microsoft: event agenda as a carousel

Strategy: A Microsoft carousel in the LinkedIn Ad Library promotes the Microsoft AI Tour at Expo Santa Fe on 22 October, with sessions tailored to the reader's role. Its 4 cards each sell one theme: discovering agentic AI, moving AI from strategy to action, building agents to transform the business, and scaling AI with secure data.

What makes it different: The carousel is an agenda. Instead of one generic "register now" image, it gives 4 distinct reasons to attend.

Results: Not published. The Ad Library record shows the creative and the paying entity, but no performance data.

Why it works: Different stakeholders attend events for different sessions. Splitting the agenda across cards lets a technical lead and a business lead each find their reason in the same ad.

Key takeaway for your team: You do not need a global event to use this structure. For your next webinar or trade show, give each session or speaker its own card and finish with a registration card.

5. Semrush: one positioning claim, repeated across cards

Strategy: A Semrush carousel in the LinkedIn Ad Library opens with "Other tools show you visibility. Semrush shows what's driving it." All 6 cards use the same headline: "Your edge to win every search." The record shows it ran from 1 to 7 October 2026.

What makes it different: The headline stays fixed across cards, so each image does the work of adding a new frame to the same claim.

Results: Not published. The Ad Library estimates 10,000 to 20,000 total impressions, 87% of them in the United Kingdom, but shows no click or conversion data.

Why it works: Repetition across frames builds message recall. A reader who swipes 3 cards sees the same claim 3 times, each time next to a different image.

Key takeaway for your team: You do not need a large creative team for this. Pick one positioning line, keep it as the headline on every card, and use each image to show one product screen or proof point.

How to Create Carousel Ads on LinkedIn: 6 Steps

These steps take you from brief to live carousel in Campaign Manager. Each one reflects the patterns in the examples above.

  1. Decide the one job of the carousel. Pick a single structure from the table above: tips, report preview, segments, agenda or fixed claim. Mixing two structures in one ad confuses the swipe.

  2. Start with 3 to 5 cards. LinkedIn's carousel ad tips call 3 to 5 cards the sweet spot for engagement and suggest testing more from there. Cut any card that repeats a point.

  3. Make card 1 work as a single-image ad. LinkedIn shows the first card in full view and the second only partially, so card 1 carries the hook and the reason to swipe.

  4. Set up the campaign in Campaign Manager. Create a campaign, choose your objective and audience, then select the carousel image ad format and upload each card with its headline and URL. Choose a Lead Gen Form instead of URLs if you want every card to open one form.

  5. Track performance per card. LinkedIn reports clicks and impressions by individual card in its downloadable carousel reports. If you also want card-level visits in your own analytics, give each card a distinct UTM, and cross-check against LinkedIn's numbers, since redirects, consent settings and analytics configuration can strip or change UTM data.

  6. Run carousels next to single image, not instead of it. ZenABM's suggested ratio of 1 or 2 carousels in a set of 5 to 7 single-image ads is a reasonable starting test. Run it until each format has enough spend and impressions for a stable comparison, which depends on your audience size, budget, conversion volume and sales cycle.

How to Measure LinkedIn Carousel Ads Beyond CTR

A 0.32% median CTR in ZenABM's data makes carousels look weak in a CTR-only dashboard. Measure them on what they are good at: reach into the right accounts and engagement that shows up later in pipeline.

Three tools in this space approach that measurement differently, based on their own websites:

  • Fibbler describes itself as paid ads attribution and activation. Its site says it identifies companies engaging with your LinkedIn Ads and syncs that data into CRMs including HubSpot, Salesforce, Attio and Pipedrive. That is a genuine step up from impression counts. But it reports on ads you still have to plan, build and refresh yourself.

  • Dreamdata is a B2B attribution platform that groups LinkedIn Ads and other channel activity by account and models how that activity relates to pipeline and revenue. It suits teams that want account-level attribution. But it measures campaigns rather than running them.

  • Metadata.io describes itself as an autonomous B2B advertising platform that builds audiences, creative and campaigns across multiple channels, including LinkedIn. It suits teams that want to reduce manual campaign assembly. But its focus is advertising: LinkedIn outreach and thought leadership sit outside it.

Install the LinkedIn Insight Tag to track website conversions and build retargeting audiences. It does not give you card-level attribution on its own. That still depends on distinct card URLs or UTMs and a correctly configured analytics setup.

Where Hey Sid Fits

Carousel ads solve a creative problem. The harder problem is reaching the same named decision-makers repeatedly, across channels, and proving that it influenced pipeline.

Hey Sid runs The Influence Loop as a managed service: Always On person-level advertising, Authority Builder done-for-you thought leadership, and Precision Connect automated LinkedIn outreach, all aimed at the same individuals. Hey Sid delivers fresh ad creative every 60 days, and its HubSpot integration syncs company-level ad impressions, engagement and clicks into HubSpot, so you can report influenced pipeline alongside clicks.

FAQ

What size should LinkedIn carousel ad images be?

LinkedIn recommends 1080 x 1080 px at a 1:1 aspect ratio, in JPG, PNG or non-animated GIF, up to 10 MB per card. Images display at 312 x 312 px in the feed, so keep any text inside the image large and short.

Are LinkedIn carousel ads better than single-image ads?

Not for clicks, based on ZenABM's 2026 dataset: single-image ads had a higher median CTR (0.42% vs 0.32%). Carousels had a lower median CPM ($45.28 vs $59.15), so they suit messages that need sequence and campaigns built around reach into named accounts.

How many cards should a LinkedIn carousel ad have?

LinkedIn allows 2 to 10 cards and recommends starting with 3 to 5, then testing more. The Microsoft example in this guide uses 4.

Can you use video in LinkedIn carousel ads?

LinkedIn's current specifications state that carousel ads do not support video. If the story needs motion, use a video ad, or compare formats in our guide to LinkedIn document ads vs video ads.

How do I measure LinkedIn carousel ads for a small team?

Start with LinkedIn's card-level clicks and impressions in the downloadable carousel report, then add distinct UTMs per card for your own analytics. Judge carousels on CPM, engaged accounts and influenced pipeline, not CTR alone.

Conclusion: Use LinkedIn Carousel Ads When the Story Needs a Sequence

LinkedIn carousel ads are not a better single-image ad. In ZenABM's data they trade a lower CTR for a lower CPM, and they give you up to 10 frames to tell a story. Use them for frameworks, segments, agendas and research, and keep single image for one-offer click campaigns.
